How to Connect ProformanceLink

Step-by-step guide to connect your ProformanceLink VCI device

What You Need

Before getting started, make sure you have:

  • ProformanceLink VCI device
  • ProFormance Diagnostics app installed on your phone or tablet
  • Vehicle with supported diagnostic port (OBD-II / J1939 / J1708)

Step 1: Download the App

Download the ProFormance Diagnostics app from the App Store or Google Play.

Search for "ProFormance" or scan the QR code on your device packaging.

Step 2: Power On the VCI

Plug the ProformanceLink VCI into your vehicle's diagnostic port.

  • OBD-II port — located under the dashboard on the driver's side
  • 9-pin Deutsch port — located near the firewall or under the dash on heavy-duty trucks

The LED indicator will turn solid blue when powered on.

Step 3: Connect via Bluetooth

  1. Open the ProFormance app on your device
  2. Tap Connect on the home screen
  3. Select your ProformanceLink device from the list
  4. Wait for the connection confirmation

The LED will turn solid green once connected successfully.

Step 4: Start a Diagnostic Session

Once connected, select your vehicle type and tap Start Diagnosis to begin scanning for fault codes.

Troubleshooting

VCI not appearing in the app?

  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device
  • Ensure the VCI LED is lit (solid blue)
  • Try unplugging and replugging the VCI

Connection keeps dropping?

  • Stay within 30 feet (10 meters) of the VCI
  • Avoid interference from other Bluetooth devices
